Common questions
Q: What do you do? A: I help people get the life improvements they want, quickly and effectively, using a variety of methods. Q: What kinds of things can you help me with? A: I help people with a wide variety of issues and goals. I do not need to know the details of a problem to help you solve it. My methods are particularly effective if you want to
Working with me, you can also:
Q: How does it work? A: I work with the natural ways your mind and body already function to help you get the results you want — without drugs, and with minimum fuss. My methods build on what you already do successfully. I help the most powerful part of your mind — your unconscious — create the results you really want. Because you alter what created the problem, it simply stops happening. My clients frequently forget about serious problems they used to have. Q: Do you do therapy or counseling? A: No. What I do works much faster — a few sessions to a few months of sessions to get the complete result you want, versus often years of therapy to get only partial results. Example: I can usually cure phobias in four sessions or less — often in one. Therapists and counselors make a diagnosis. Then they try to fix what's "wrong" with you. I work with your actual behaviors and the results you get. That's part of why I make more progress in less time. I use methods that don't require you to relive painful memories again and again. I work with how you think and what you do that's outside your conscious awareness. Once that shifts, your results improve automatically, without your having to struggle or think about it. Q: What's a session like? A: Each session begins with some fact-finding. What's been happening? If you had the outcome you wanted, what would be different? Once we have a session goal, I may ask you to imagine things, stand, or walk around. Sometimes I might touch you lightly on the hand, arm, knee, or back, activating your mind-body connection to get you faster results. Other times I'll simply talk with you. I may ask you to remember an experience such as having a problem so I can find out how you do it. Then I'll guide you through an interesting process that teaches you to do something more useful instead. Most people find the methods I use interesting and fun. You walk out feeling good. Q: How long do sessions last? A: I normally schedule 2 hour sessions. Depending on your progress during the session, I sometimes stop a bit early or go a bit longer. Q: How many sessions will I need to get the result I want? A: Most people with fairly simple problems such as phobias, fear of public speaking, and allergies get relief by the 4th session. Complex problems may take several months or longer to resolve. For complex problems, we do an evaluation after 4 sessions to check your progress and determine how long we think it will take to get the result you want. Q: Do you work on anything? A: No. If you have a diagnosed or severe mental or physical health problem such as cancer or suicidal depression, I require a physician's referral. (Just ask your doctor.) Q: Does dealing with mental factors in physical health issues substitute for regular health care? A: No. What I do supplements standard health care. I can sometimes help people get well from serious illnesses, but you should continue doing other things to support your well-being. I am definitely not a substitute for a licensed physician's or mental health professional's advice, procedures, or medicines. Q: Who are you? What are your qualifications? A: I enjoy helping people improve their lives by getting the results they want. I am a certified hypnotist. I also have advanced training in NLP, which studies how people succeed. If you come to me to cure a phobia or eliminate an allergy, you'll learn to do the same things as people who successfully lost their phobias or resolved their allergy problems. Unlike most hypnotists and NLP practitioners, I also do research, developing even better methods to help you get the results you want. Q: Where is your office? A: 4289 Piedmont Avenue Suite 202, Oakland, California. Map and directions Q: Do you make house calls? A: Yes. For an additional fee, I can visit you at your home, or in a hospital or nursing home. Q: Do you do sessions by phone? A: Yes. I am available anywhere in the U.S. by phone. Q: How does a phone session work? A: I'll give you a phone number and a time to call. After your session, your check goes in the mail the same day. Q: Do you have payment plans? A: Yes. I can arrange a payment plan to suit you — just ask. Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
